I was born on December 25, 1987. When I was little my family felt it was better to celebrate my birthday on June 25 and call it my half birthday party so that I could have a "normal" birthday like everyone else because on Christmas everyone would be opening their gifts and the adults would be so busy making Christmas dinner to have a birthday party for me. It was nice to have a half birthday party but as I got older I decided not to have them anymore. People always ask me if I get jipped on presents but honestly the presents doesn't matter, having my birthday off every year and always being able to spend my birthday with the ones I love while everyone is singing Christmas music and baking cookies and Christmas dinner is what matters to me. To everyone that was born today on christmas have a Merry Birthday!

I was born December 25, 1983 at 11:47 am. My mom had first been told I would show up around the end of November. And then my due date got changed to Dec 17. Well I decided to be stubborn and not make my grand entrance until Dec 25. My mom went into labour Christmas eve and 16 hours later I had entered the world. Nothing was open - my dad couldn't even buy cigarettes and he missed out on turkey dinner (though my grandparents brought turkey to the hospital that afternoon).
Growing up I noticed differences. Any parties I had were held in October - which sucked. My birthday cake was given to me on Christmas eve - are we celebrating when mom went into labour. But the mountain of presents I got seem to make up for it. But as i got older i started resenting the combination of my birthday and Christmas.
I started puting my foot down in my late teens - no more combination presents, no more combination cards (or birthday cards that mention Christmas), and no more birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper. Birthday cake is to be served on my birthday - bad enough i dont get my choice of meal or to go out for dinner on my actual day. I settle for my birthday dinner being on Dec 24 and the birthday presents can be under the tree.
I've made it known that my "celebratory" birthday is dec 17 - that is the day i aim to celebrate and have a party with my friends, and i make bets about many people will actually remember my real birthday, and how far into the day i get before hearing "happy birthday" - the latest so far is 2:16pm.
I like my day to be known and acknowledged, and not just as a side note to a holiday. as I've gotten older, the desire for gifts and material acknowledgment has waned, but the desire to not be forgetton in the hussle and bussle of the season is still there.
On the plus side, i will never have to work the day of my birthday, nor the day after. thats a plus, but i would give that up to have a day all my own.

I was born December 25, 1960. My mom wanted to name me Merry Chris...thank goodness my dad talked her out of it! I joined five other babies that day and our picture was put on the front page of the local newspaper. How cool. I share my birthday with my moms brother ( he was born at home and put in my moms new baby carriage as a joke, she wanted to keep him HA HA ) and my best friends husband. I think its cool and always have.

I was born at 8:11pm on 12/24/82 and for years before my birth, during , and still continuing on today our family has had the big celebration on Christmas eve my great uncle George (moms uncle) was also born on Christmas eve. I try to see it as a positive thing, the whole family is there together about 30-40 people and I always get the Christmas cards with happy birthday written in them and birthday gifts wrapped in Christmas paper it does irk me some but of course I've never said anything to the family about it and inside I felt a little selfish for wanting birthday specific things glad to see I'm not alone in that. Though to add to the insanity of the Christmas birthdays my fiance is born on Christmas day and my oldest son whom is turning 11 this year was born December 20th. So needless to say he gets an earlier birthday so he can have a day all his own and a smaller event on the actual date. The season is just around the corner so heres to a Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday everybody :)

i was born 12/24/62 and i have the same problem as others.
everyone always bails last minute on the birthday celebrations because they're always too busy with family, etc... even if you made the plans 365 days in advance they will still break them last minute. so to that guy up there that said if you're not born exactly on 12/25 you don't know- not so!
it's exactly the same thing on christmas eve. all the same dilemmas as most of you listed here. i was just 6 hours 18 minutes short of being born exactly on xmas eve at 5:42 pm. so yeah, we get it.

I was born on 12/25/1949 and, even after all these years, would still like to have been born on another day except Christmas. I feel cheated not to have two special days each year to look forward to. On the other hand, I never had to work on my birthday and usually have spent it with the people I love the most.

All these years later and I still don't like having a December 25th birthday! I was born at 7:21 AM. As the story goes, my dad dropped my mom off at the hospital. He needed to get back home to get the rest of my siblings ready for church. My dad also happened to be a (now retired) minister and had to preach. Guess I took a back seat because following the service, my father and siblings also went to dinner at a church members home before going back to the hospital. I hold no resentment for this. I am child #6, so after that many kids, I can't imagine another one would create much excitement. Amazingly, in my city of birth and surrounding areas, there were 21 children born on that day. The local newspaper had a list of those born and (in my opinion) all of us who would ultimately realize what a lousy day this was to be born on! Truly, I hope the others born on that day were able to accept this fate better than I!

My biggest issue with a December 25th birthday (I'll never say Christmas birthday!) is that we get short changed with not having a special day all to ourselves. As I've gotten older, this is no longer of much importance. Still, I just wished I could have had a "normal" birthday like most people.

Thank you for sharing your stories and I wish everyone a very Happy Birthday!
